I put this in the Nitrous Forum but had no replies, but the question is,right now I have my IAT sensor in my WAI and not in the HO Manifold stock location.The plug is still there and I was wondering if I move the IAT to the manifold how will that affect temps and mainly how will it be affected when I spray???

there wont be much if any effect. The only thing that I could imagine happening is the sensor getting heatsoaked from the hot manifold.. I would keep it in the WAI because you dont want spray on the sensor!

Neihoff makes an IAT sensor that fits into the HO manifold and has an insulated element to prevent heatsoak.
Josh where can I get one of those and what's the part number and price.
2000 Z24 5spd header & catback for now.
Why do you want to put it in your Intake manifold?
I was thinking lower IAT temps. because the alum. WAI gets hotter than the HO mani.

Because if you run water injection you want your tune to follow the effects of the cooled intake charge and you dont want to spray before the TB. - Just the first reason that came to mind but not the only.

I am not running meth/alky injection,just nitrous in which you do spray before the t.b.,unless you have a d.p. setup) but in one sense it seems that spraying with a dry kit with the iat in the mainfold would make the iat read cooler temps but with with spraying with a wet kit like mine may mess up the sensor with the fuel

I'm planning on installing my IAT in my LO manifold once I have it on there because I wan't to mount my filter directly to the throttlebody. Let me know how it goes if you do it.

Actually no.
If you put the IAT in the intake manifold(especially a metal manifold) your computer will see higher temperatures because of the heatsoak, you have to remember this thing is bolted to the hottest part of the motor.
Why do you think people put the IAT in the bumper.

I have the phenolic spacer which does help and my WAI does seem to get hotter,maybe because it's thin alum.
and not cast alum.Also many have said here that the IAT extension mod,which was the first thing I ever did,does
nothing but make the car run pig rich and possibly retard timing 1 deg.

A cylinder can only make as much power as the oxygen present in it. Air is denser at colder temps (like most matter), therefore it contains more oxygen. So if you have an IAT telling the computer that the air entering the cylinder is 55 deg F and it is really more like 115 deg, you have a problem... and your motor will most likely run rich.
I run an open element screw in IAT in my HO manifold and it works great... then again, I'm also not spraying nitrous.
