Right now I have a pacesetter non-coated header on my 2.4, and I hate it. It was painted whith high temp paint when I got it which I thought was ceramic cause Im an idiot lol, which has now flaked alot off and looks like ass. It also has that famous pacesetter collector leak, and I cant even realy retighten the collector bolts cause their like hitting the chassis and its a PITA. I have a chance to get a used isuzuperformance header for pretty cheap, so I thought Id give it a try and install is easy cause it bolts right up with no welding.
I know many of you will say its prolly not worth it, but Im one of those people who if they arent 100% happy then Ill spend the money to try something new. Anyone compared the 2 of these headers? I know they are completely different, but I think Id like the 4-2-1 for more low-mid range power. Any input is helpful as I dont realy know much about these headers, except that they are expensive as hell new.
If you can get one cheap, GO FOR IT! I paid about $800 for mine. It's ceramic coated from the header back. It comes with a magna flow high flow cat. Hell you say cheap so I'm figuring $500 or less. Definitely go for it. It bolts right up!
How about $150 shipped cheap? lol
Its been used for a while and its not the ceramic one, but its still cheap. Im just clean it up and prolly use a vht fireball coating on it. I know alot of people recommend pacesetters for the money, but this is cheap and Im tired of mine.
i never had 1 problem with my pacesetter
ive got a stans at home that looks like ass , all the collectors are distorted and bent
my collector i used high temp anti-sieze on the ball socket , and tightened up the bolts tell the springs were almost fully compressed , and doubled nutted them , and not 1 issue , and no distorted collector
Yea some people like the pacesetter and some hate them. I had to extend my o2 to fit on my pacesetter, and I couldnt even get my downpipe on cause the collector bolts were htting the chassis. Since I had to take it to a shop to have them weld on my cat, I just had them put the dowpipe on since they have air tools and theyve done that kinda stuff before. My pacesetter looks like ass though so thats another reason to try a different header.
Hasnt the stans shown the most gain on a dyno? Might be bs but idk
I was looking at the same one. He said it didn't come with a cat, which I found odd since on their website the cat is welded into the downpipe. But I dunno.
They said it dynoed the highest of any header but then again, everyone says that. They had a whole big description of how it outperformed a RK Sport header that seemed to analyse every single detail of the dyno chart. I think when it came down to it, the peak gain was like 1.5 HP more than the RK Sport but the area under the curve was bigger, especially in the midrage (which you'd expect for a 4-2-1). I dunno. I definitely was thinking about jumping on it, but I decided against it, simply because you can pick up a new header for about the same cost. You might see 1-2 HP more, but it's another used header. Why go from used to used? If you didn't have one at all, it'd make more sense.
For a good price go for it. I still think Pacesetter is the best bang for the buck header for a 2.4. I have it. I have had no issues (I also got mine used). I did not use the springs, just bolts with nuts and tightened it down.

Guess we all emailed that guy for the stans header.
Go for it before I get it

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
Im trying to get ahold of his ass lol, he hardly responds to my emails or pm's. Hopefully he gets back to me so I can get it.
Well he took forever getting back to me, so someone else got it.
Im gona try to get an rk header off someone local in the next month or so, depending on what they do to their car. I have a new exhaust already that Im just gona cut off the flange and weld a straight piece of pipe to connect the cat the the rest of my piping. So I can put on the rk header if I get it, remove my exhaust, and take it to a shop and have them just weld up my new piping and everything.
How do you guys with the rk header like it?
ive got a stans id sell , its not pretty and doesnt have a cat , pm me your email and ill get pics
on the o2 sensor , if you woulda took the harness side of the plug off its bracket , it will reach the plug end on the o2 sensor
only motor that doesnt reach is the ohv motors

When I did the header and realized the o2 wouldnt reach, I just put it off to the side and drove to get it welded up. Didnt even think about it and after I got it welded up I realized the connector melted onto the header. So then I had to get another connector clip from the junyard and since it was off and my friend had the perfect wires I just added it on long enough.

I had a lot of problems with mine when I got it. PITA to install, Had to extend the o2 sensor, it kept blowing the gaskets like crazy where it connects from the flex pipe to the cat. I ended up having it welded, aside from that I liked it... and you already heard what my car sounds like...

Yea I realy like how your car sounds, but you do have alot more done to the motor than just the rk header lol. Do you have 2.5 or 2.25 catback piping?
Im realy just tired of my crappy, cheap setup now and want something better to go on with my new piping whenever I get it done.
yeaaaahh...that's right I got 10 stickers on the motor @ 10whp each, lmao!
I believe it starts 2.25 and ends up 2.50, don't ask.
When I got my first exhaust, I thought it sounded like shiznite. rk w/ magnaflow single cat back. I spent about 4/5months changing exhaust parts to get that right tone...I got it now rk w/ high flow cat, test pipe style resonator and greddy titanium exhaust. I guess the engine work helps too...
