well right now the engine mods on my 99 Z24 are a full 2.5" exhaust, intake and pretty soon a new AEM alternator pulley.(sad... only an alternator pulley...) I wanna change the intake manifold to the metal one from the 95. someone correct me if im wrong but thats the high output one right? well anyways i was just on ebay and i found this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-Air-Intake-Manifold-96-02-Chevy-Cavalier-2-4L_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ36474QQihZ016QQitemZ260103100644QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
does anybody know if this is any good? and another thing i wanna know is if changing the intake with either the HO or the one on ebay will set off the check engine light. i dont see how it would but just to make sure.
thanks in advanced, and im sure this topic has been discussed to death but i couldnt find one that answered my question.
Posted about atleast 5 times now, that OBX is a piece of garbage, and a total rip off of another product.
I wouldnt use the 95 intake you are talking about I believe they are all LO engines, plus they are from a 2.3 that looks similar to the 2.4 but have many differences. If you are really wanting to do this look for a 2.3 HO intake from the junkyard, it will be from 87? up to 94 I believe in Achievas, Berettas, Grand ams, and a few others I cant remeber. You will need to do some drilling and port matching to make it fit. This:
Adapter will help so you dont have to port plus helps with heatsink issues but you still need to drill out and notch some of the mounting holes(not too hard just takes a little time). That is my suggestion. The OBX one is a cheap rip off of venom and probably doesnt fit all too well. Fair warning you will probably get flamed for posting it again because like mentioned above it is mentioned quite a few times just below this post.
