A Few questions about fuel delivery
Thursday, February 01, 2007 11:29 PM
Ok, i have a 96 Z24 and im doing the eco swap....im going to use a fuel cell rather than the plastic tank for my own reasons. Below are links to the fuel cell, fuel pump, and fuel filter im planning on using.

Fuel Cell
Fuel Filter
MSD inline fuel pump

Now my questions are these....

Will a fuel delivery with a cell be ok under extreme conditions such as heavy braking and turning?

Can i simply use the above fuel pump?

How do i make my stock gas needle work with the cell?

thanks in advance guys, im placing the order in a few days, swap should be done and car on the road beginning of march...

If you are going to be driving this on the road you may want to check into the legality of changing your gas tank. I know a few mini-truckers that use cells or a tank from a different vehicle because they have c-notches and anytime DOT finds them they red-tag the vehicle. They dont even mention that the truck is sitting on the ground, they just dont like the gas tanks lol. Just something you want to keep an eye on.

that is a good way to set up a fuel system but the only thing is getting the cell mounted in a good secure spot. but you shouldnt have any trouble with having a cell in the truck cause there are many cars that do it, you just have to make sure its mounted very good. and you shouldnt have any trouble with turning or braking with that cell cause its got a 2" sump on the bottom of it so there should always be fuel getting pumped, id just try to have a half tank of fuel to help prevent any kind of fuel starvation.

i already know how im mouting it....im cutting the spare tire well out, welding in braces to connect the two framerails and mounting it in between the frame rails and the top will be flush with the floor of the trunk...

what purpose does the foam serve in fuel cells?

foam inside the cells im pretty sure is to keep the fuel from sloshing around while cornering.
