Does anyone know if the Ecotec block used in the Skyy and Solstice are the same as the front wheel drive cars?
The reason why I am asking is that if the mounting bosses are the same for RWD the Ecotec could be swapped into some other compact RWD cars.
"Are you sure your A/F ratio is correct? That hole in your Block custom?"
wtf are you smoking??
swaping the ecotec into any other car than what it came in is going to require custom mounts no matter what.
ohh but to answer your question.. all ecotec blocks are the same.
I'm not so sure about that, I know for a fact that the 2.4 eco does not share the same block as the 2.2 eco otherwise people would be swapping blocks and upping the displacement.
-The 2.2Ls are the same between platforms.
-The 2.0Ls are the same between platforms.
-The 2.4Ls are the same between platforms.
The only blocks that are the same between those three are the 2.2L and 2.0L

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

How is the 2.4l different?
When I was doing some research I foudn that all the blocks are the same, the only difference in the 2.4 is the stroke....
I was going to use a 2.4 crank to get the 2.4 displacement about a year ago when I looked into building my engine.
I even made a post about it and it was confirmed
LE61T PTE6262 Powered
bore is different on the 2.4
2.0 and 2.2 share the same bore
all the 2.0 have oil coolers , some 2.4's have the oil coolers
2.0 and 2.4 have piston oil squirters
outside they are all the same or similar
I just wish that the F35 had the same mounts as the j-body F23.

Actually as of 2007 all 3 use the same block which is the (second generation) ecotec block
Previously the LE5 and LSJ shared the same block which has the larger water jackets and cooling passages, this was recently added to the 2007 L61s
rumor has it the LNF direct injection may be fitted to these others in the next year or two
