Just got my RSm crank pulley, did the install, started the engine and the thing was leaking oil like crazy out the pulley. Shut it off, took the belt and bolt back off and now I cant get the new pulley off. Any ideas what might of happened or how I can get this thing off?
Thanks
Forgot to mention I have the ecotec. Do they make pulley pullers for them? They have the 3 screw holes
i had a smaller size pully on my old 96z24, and i struggled with that thing for hours and couldnt get it off.
now that i have my new car, and its all stock, i dont have to worry about ever getting a small pully off again, especially since I HATE THEM. they mess up your timing most of the time, and doesnt make the car run as clean as stock. and the power increase really isnt that great.
as long as the small pulley u got bolts up in the same place as the stock one, i dont know why it would be dripping oil. maybe not tight enough, or on backwards?
hope this helps.

ok i got the damn thing off and it looks like the opening is slightly too smll and it would not go on all the way. guess i got a defect
the pulley don't do anything to the timming. Don't expect much out of a pulley since it's just lighter so the engine revs faster. That's all.
also, if your car didn't run as clean it was becuase you had another problem, not because of the pulley.

It's from RSM so this wouldn't surprise me at all.
I'm just sorry you bought from those thieves in the first place. You and everyone else should be avoiding them like the plague.
Is there a bunch of chips taken out of it all around the edge, or are those just fingerprints and stuff?
Nope those are all chips from me trying to get the thing off. I had to use a crowbar and a hammer and it did some damage but at least I have a car that runs now.
.... I use a pulley puller.. have switched pulleys on my car.. taken off the pulley and put it back on... without incident...
I doubt that a puller would have done anything. If you look at the picture, you will see that tthe diameter of the opening on the pulley was too small to fit. The farther I pushed it on, the more it got stuck (and I used an impact wrench). The ecotecs do not require a puller, its just 1 bolt and the pulley comes off. I took the bolt off and the thing was stuck on there good and it took a whole lot of messing with it to get it off.
