same as you would for the 2.2 eco , and you will need to use the cavalier/sunfire eco trans with it

and you wont have use of the vvt

you can use the vvt if you get the 2.4 ecm. For your year you would need the engine mounts and a transmission that fits the ecotec. There is also wiring you would have to change, but I'm not sure how much needs changed out.

as a said , you need the same basic stuff as swapping in the 2.2 eco

as for the vvt pcm , it would be alot of work to integrate it into our wiring , and they are drive by wire , our cars use a throttle cable

the drive by wire system leaves alot to be desired , id rather try to rig something up from a vtech controller , then do drive by wire , and id be just as happy not using the vvt , just to get rid of the drive by wire

I'm still not sure if the drive by wire would be a problem if you swap over to cable, it will depend how the computer handles it. I don't think the vvt will be much more wiring, the motor comes ready for it and I don't see it taking any more than plugging it in from motor to the pcm.

swapping an ecotec into a pre 2000 car is a nightmare as it is..

I'd say stick with the good ole 2.2 liter.. you have it bad enough as it is if you're hell bent on swapping in an ecotec.

the pcm for the 2.4 will freak out if you try and use a cable tb , and eliminate the drive by wire

The reason I asked was I have seen several write ups with pre 2000 cavaliers and ecotecs and they have mostly said engine, trans, pcm, and mounts and a few extra parts.
