I dynoed my 04 LS Sport yesturday at Torque Freaks in Portland, OR. The dyno was a Dynojet model 248x. I didn't quite reach my goal of 140 whp but got in the neighborhood of it. Engine mods are Pacesetter 4-1 header armor coat, Thermal cat-back 2.25 inch, upper and lower motor mounts, reveco big bore tb 69-60-62 mm, ported intake manifold, and AEM cold air intake. The engine has 15,000 miles.
Conditions:
41 degrees
79% humidity
Results:
SAE (corrected)
131.62 horse
140.14 torque

From looking at the graph your curve is real choppy. Is that your actually air/fuel ratio as well?

You MIGHT have hit 140 if you didnt have a gigantic TB, generally people use that big of one, when they are boosted. Try going with the stock TB, and see what kind of results you get.

I have yet to figure out why people waste there money on those Reveco 69-60-62 TBs. The 60mm center measurement is the TB plate. Why would you squeeze it down to 60mm only to open it back up to 62mm? DOESN'T MAKE SENSE PEOPLE!! I have a custom made 69-62-62 TB. That's the way it should be. Get the venturi effect going and keep it going all the way through.
That being said...fix your AFR and watch your numbers jump.

^^ lol ... i wasnt sure what 69-60-62 ment, but now that it is explained ... that is just a waste of money. With the A-F ratio, shouldnt the PCM already figure that out? If not, how would he go about getting it fixed?
dan
Well for those who don't know yet about the TB measurements...
69 is the outer most opening measurement. Basically at the lip of the TB.
60 is the plate diameter.
62 is the back side opening. The bottom lip essentially.
All of the measurements are in millimeters too BTW.
Anyways...with the 03-05 ECUs getting a good AFR is a PITA. We're looking into a few methods now but nothing concrete has been found to work on every car, every time yet.

where u live it? torque freaks is about 3.5 hours north of me.. i live about 5 mintes from roseburg
off the subject, would there be any gains in only porting the upeer part of the TB to 69 and tapering it back down to stock 58. so 69-58-58
Not really. Your biggest gains come from opening up the plate area and allowing more air in. By opening the front end your creating a venturi and helping speed the airflow a little but not actually getting any more air in.

thats what i figured, thanx for conferming
Yes there's definitely a gain, I have a stock 58 and one thats ported with stock butterfly I have been playing around with. Ill prove it next time I go to the Dyno.

Please prove it gives you more than 1-2HP on the dyno. Please. Mine gave me nearly 15HP on 6PSI. Even more at higher boost levels and even more on top of that with the new head to take in all the air.
Are you sure your gains aren't from a TB/Intake combo?

yea that is my car, my friend with a tiburon put up some of the pics on the tib forum
Its all ready pretty big if your N/A i would say use to stock tb and modify the manifold like in the sticky. Dont start a flaming session i don't care if your stuborn and think it doesnt help!!!

The car looks nice and clean. I like it. Black is my sexcond fav J color. Now join JBNW so we cna roll togehter with our LS Sports looking fly. hehehe
Yeah ive swapped the TBs out several times, it cant be attributed to anything else, i actually felt more difference in the top end with the ported TB than I remember getting from the intake at all, which i could barely even notice. But we will see when I take it to the dyno Ill run 3 times then swap them out and run it another 3 times and see what the results are. My friend knows someone who just put a dyno in their garage so getting enough runs to test shouldnt be an issue.
We made this 62 strait through, with new butterfly, but it broke through near the sensor when we bored it so were going to try making another one thats 61mm, well also find out the dyno results on this hopefully within the next month.

actually i am a member of JBMW. i dont think i've never posted on it thou. lol
BlackEco...the key to making it 62mm is to offset it a little bit so you dont take as much off by the IAC

^^^^^^he is correct i bored his for him

off set the centerline by 1 mm away from the IAC and you'll be perfect but make sure you have the new butterfly plate already and bore to fit the plate exactly and you shouldnt have any issues
and about having a bigger TB i myself tried one and ran .3 slower in the 1/4 then using a stock TB and i had cams, header and full 2.25 exhaust and intake
goodluck with it

The one, the only, ME.
I think theyre right aobut the TB killing your power. as soon as i saw your mods and horspower. i was wondering why your numbers were so low. ditch the tb and youll pick up alot of power
Working on obtainting an M-Class license... ?? Hint: 2 wheels.

the only way you can confirm this enough to quell most people's doubts would be to get the car on the dyno, get it up to operating temp, do 3 runs with the stock tb, then swap to the modded one, and do 3 more runs at op temp. If it shows a consistent gain on all 3 runs than maybe you have something, but i really doubt that the velocity increase from the taper would have much effect by the time the air ran all the way through the intake manifold and in through the valves...
