Cost not counting labor:
$200 gasket kit from rockatuo.com
$10-$50 for motor oil and filter
$10 for the pre cam lube
$6 for silicone sealant
$10 for new tensioner shoe
$200-$300 for new lifters . Prices on these things vary and they aint cheap for the set
After all of that then you're ready for the install.

6 Hours sounds more like it.

If you scroll down you'll see pictures of them installing it and describing the install a bit.

All good,
Yeah, its a little deceptive on how long it takes.
you look at it and its like, 'oh just a few bolts, move this and that, and you're done'/
Then those few botls turn into a bunch of bolts. Namely on the timing chain cover.
The move this and that turns into "ok where did that one pice disappear to'"
Finally once all is said and done, worst case, everythign is buttoned up thne comes "ok why do I see/smell smoke"
So its not hard or too labor intensive.
Just gotta take yout time, its just the time adds up.
But by all means, if you can be around when its done, do it.
The knowledge you get will benifit you on so many levels.
Good luck with it,

you can do it yourself, it's not that bad. pick yourself up a Haynes (and or) Chiltons manual. I have both. It's best that way.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
I did it and im only 16... lol should of been a little more careful with the gaskets though...

What's your age have to do with anything? Are you try to belittle someone or something?
being so young, you obviously haven't learned humility yet. I don't have much room to talk myself though.
Age = nothing
knowledge = everything.
Either way, yeah, make sure you have all the necessary parts required to do this job.
I reused some gaskets, no big deal but then again, my engine had only about 40k miles on it when I put the cams in. that was just recently also.
Good luck.
When I was 16 I built a 450hp small block, age got nothing to do with it.
Back on topic, it takes me aboot 4 hours total. But that is from doing it a few times. Expect at least 6 hours.
