Pacesetter Header

I know alot of you JBody guys are using this header...

Recently someone with an Ion installed one of these headers and had a couple issues and I was wondering if any of you guys have had these same issues.

First, the ball joint that connects the header and the downpipe...anyone have problems with these leaking? I'm not too crazy about this replacing the flex pipe in the first place but have you guys had issues with this?

Also the 02 sensor not reaching the bung...I have read in another thread that this barely fits into place but it infact does. Have any of you needed to lengthen the 02 sensor wires for this?

In the end this guy ended up paying someone around $400 to modify a header that should have worked with the Ecotec so I'm a little hesitant to purchase this thing.

From what I have read from previous header threads everyone seems to be pretty happy with this header but I wanted some feedback before I decided on it.

Some header regargless of pacesetter you may have to extend the wire for the O2 sensor. Also with some headers it is suggested you used engine mount to prevent the engine from moving. The person that installed the header probably did not have stiffer engine mounts. I have had my pacesetter for a year now and not problem.
Also on another note a tip. When you install the header you should check in a couple days and tighten the bolts the heat will make them loosen form initail use. Then once you have tighten them up every 2-3 day for about a week and a half you should be good to go. The metal has expanded and contract enough that the bolts will be fine.

there is a header made for us by Saturn Motorsports that comes with a header, high flow cat, and mount but it is like $900+

I'm sure you could get away without an engine mount right? Or is it pretty recommended....I've read that engine mounts cause alot of vibrations and it can sometimes be uncomfortable so I'm not sure if I want stiffer mounts.

Did any of you guys have to lengthen the wire with the Pacesetter or is it kind of hit and miss, some do, some don't or what?

ive had mine on my cav and know alot of other people with no problems

im sure you asked adam about them when you met him , he has the blue 05 redline

the ecos all you had to do was remove the o2 wire off the bracket and that gives you the extra length you need , on both the j's and the cobalts

so you know the 70-1272(72c1272 coated) is for the yours , if yours has the cat up close to the manifold

i have a 2.4 ld9, and regarding "lengthening" the wire, i didnt have to. our setups might be different, but it might still apply. if you realize how the wire is held in place, it comes out of a loom and onto a clip, and then out to the sensor. pull it off the clip, perhaps take some of it out of the loom, and thats all the "extension" that you need.
