It is slightly different, but should work.

Yeah,
There is a slight diff in the valve seat 'bowels' if I can remember.

But as it turns out, when folks port the thing, a lot of that material gets removed anyway so it doesn't really matter.

But straight up, they both shoudl work.

well i work for gm in ft smith arkansas and in the catalog the heads have a different part number, but that is because of the egr difference. later i can get part numbers or look to see exactly what is the difference. the 98 will work on the 2000 though. and by the way the 086 head you found wouldn't happen to be the one on ebay would it, from the seller girls123andcars123.

no this "086" head is on an olds achevia that my buddy has had sitting in his shop for the last three years. the body is very rusted so I offered to buy certain piece's. I'm gonna look now on E-bay just to see what there worth.
thanks for the info, and anymore info you get will be great to.

do a search...... the 086 heads have been talked about, and what would be needed to run this head on a 2.4....... all the info is there.

I believe the 96-97 head wont work on 98+....... w.o over heating issues.....

on my 2000 by vin# the head is a 24577385 which shows to be the same from 96-02. now i no they are not the same but that is what they are serviced with evidently.

exhaust manifolds and gasket are as follows:

24574871 manifold 96-99
24576382 gasket 96-98

24576614 manifold 99-02
24576934 gasket 99-02

i hope this helps out.
