Its supposedly easier to clean and you no longer need to oil the filter when you do.

the new filter has a advantage on cars that use a MAF sensor

the oiled filters on some vehicles tend to get oil into the ait stream , and it would get on the element for the MAF sensor and cause problems

alot of the cobalts seam to be having that problem

we do use a MAF sensor , so for us its not a big deal

I've noticed some oil in the intake from using the K&N drop in. But as was said it's not an issue.

How often do you people actually clean your K&N filters. At 50,000 miles I hadn't even touched mine.

You can get the dry filter at advance auto parts. they have it out on the shelf on the performance section. Any of them have it. I know because i work there. They just started carrying AEM, they have cai and the short ram for just about any car! And they are the same price as other retailers

I just ordered one from my local "speed shop" I asked about the old style to see if it was any cheaper and they can't even get it anymore and if they could it would have been more expensive anyway.

It was about 50 bucks I think. Will be here tommorow.

Yeah AEM no longer makes the old style filters, they are all this new style (DRY). Anything made after November 1st 2005 that is...
