possible HO TPS issue

I have a 2.3L tb off of a 1990 Grand Am, it is a great TB and I got it for REAL cheap. Anyway, my problem, I think, is the TPS sensor. I have hesitation and dead spots when pressing on the pedal and after reading several things about it, it seems that the 1990's TPS sensor does not give the same voltage reading as the stock 2.4. I cannot swap over the 2.4 TPS though because unlike the 93+ throttle bodies this one is not only shaped different but, it does not have a place for you to drill and tap the new hole to install the 2.4 TPS.

My question is would using something like *gulp* the TPS TEC or the Venom unit fix my problems of low voltage readings from this TPS? I know that that is what they manipulate to "gain power" OR should I just break down and buy a 93+ TB for $50.

All tps sensors are the same.

Most likely its just that the 15 year old sensor you decided to install with the 15 year old TB is worn out.

I thought about that too but a new sensor is $31 which is only $4 more than the newer TB I found so i wanted to wait and ask before I choose a direction.

mines off a 93 grand am. I used the 2.3L tps but I had to use the 2.4's IAC sensor because of the different sized plunger. It had hesitation and would idle high and then die. you might try that if the new tps sensor doesn't work. good luck.

idle isnt the issue, I am running the 2.3 IAC, I originally had the 2.4L IAC and everytime I stopped it would die so I switched to the 2.3 IAC and it does fine.
