both engines/harness/tran are easy to get i'll be only paying a little more for 2.4
which of these engines would be Better to work up?
i want to fit it in my 2000 cavalier 2200 ohv
and another question are 2.4 and 2200 carry the same fuel injectors?
i thought the 2.3 had way better torque..
2.3 is a better project motor then a 2.4. The things you can do to a 2.3 from a HO or w41 alone... I went from 2.2, to 2.4, to 2.3 & that's where Im staying lol
the Ho/W41 got more power. Even the 92 lo 2.3 got more power than a 2.4.

2.3 Ho
I know i keep bringing up the reliability issue, so correct me if i'm wrong. Didn't the quad four (the w41 in particular) have a massive amount of more head gasket/head problems than a 2.4?
that's why you just get a newer Headgasket, they corrected the issue a little too late to save the image of the Quad4, that's why the "Twin Cam" was born. the Quad will always be the performance 4 cylinder of the GM lineup IMO.
So it was the head gasket, not the head that was the problem?
yes..hes right..if you can get ahold of a HO/w41 quad just go ahead and change the headgasket before you put it in...you should be fine and youll be much happier in performance

simply uninformed. that's all.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
Btw, the biggest problem was not really the head gasket, it was the driver. Yes the head gasket was weak but I did a full year of racing with a Gm head gasket and never had any problem. I do use Fel-pro now.
The engine need air, if you sit in traffic, you'll blow it up unless you have a switch for the radiator fan.

2.3 Ho
ok what i can get is a stripped w/o throttlebody intake, distributer, out of a poniac grand-am or grand something.
i think it would be a LO. is there anyway to findout from the serial # on the engine which is LO or HO?
Actually are 2.4's "Twin Cam" OR "DOHC"
i never seen one lol

Both, lol. A better question is "which of these am I going to be able to figure out how to swap into my car?" The 2.3 requires rewiring the car to OBD1, and you may run into troubles with the BCM since your car is a '00. Either way, you'll also need a tranny as well.
15.3 @ 89.97mph, 14's on the way?

the cooling is the biigest prob, would an aftermarket ecltricall fan, and larger radiator, and better thermostat to flow more fluid ,help for sitting in traffic, or is there anything eles that we can do to cool off the 2.3 block???
yea, i remember at spring break i was sitting on the strip waiting to go and my car got pretty hot, from just sitting there but it's fine once i start getting air to the radiator....
NEW SIG COMING SOON FOR 07'!!!
I just kick on the AC so the fan runs, it cools the motor down, suprisingly enough. Then its back off when I'm moving.

yes....you can do this..however a cheaper and just as affective way that the rest of us use is to wire a switch to the fan...so when were sitting still we can kick the fan on manually...it cools right down

..comes in handy at the track
