thrush glasspack muff?

..just ordered one from jegs..gonna use it as a resonator. it was extremely cheap, 30 bucks including shipping, got the 24inch with 2/4in/out. just outta curiosity, anyone had any experience with these? just wanted to know what to expect outta sound.

another quick ?...anyone ever ran a "dynatech race cat"? jegs also sells those...sells the magnaflow one for 100 or so, and the dynatech one for about 150...says the dynatech model flows the best...I personally was interested in it b/c it looks smaller and lighter (i am not worried about a heat shield.). gonna order it if i get any positive feedback..hope this combo with my header and custom side exit bent pipe will sound nice..any opinions?

...don't hate!.. respect people that have talent, even if it is in something you don't like or understand.

I run a thrush on mine with the header. Really mellowed out the tone and quited it down a bit. I think the dynatech cat is race only and won't be as affective. Dont quote me on that, but I really don't think it is the one you should be using.

race cats usually dont have as much material in em, which can cause issues if your state has an emissions standards. chances are it wont burn off all an obd2 car is supporsed to burn off.

race cats are usually made for race vehicles, unless your vehicle is a race vehicle, i doubt its effective for street use. your chance taking.

a magnaflow cat costs about 50 bucks on ebay, 60-70$ from justmagnaflow.com

and really, i doubt you will flow any better with either cat considering you have a basically stock engine 2.2L OHV....our engines dont flow all that much to begin with.

race cats are for race vehicles that have enough flow to move boxes if you put em behind the exhaust, vehicles over 200hp, and def vehicles that are top end when it comes to performance.

Yeah, Event. That is what I was thinking but did not want to make a statement on it since I was not sure if what he mentioned was what I was thinking about.

Oh and on another note Event, I am getting rid of the cav I pick up my tC next weekend.

I'll still be around though...just not as much. Find me on scionlife or clubsciontc...

I tried to work it out so I could keep the cav and get another car for daily driving, but it just did not work out financially, and I have no where to put a second car. So it was just time.

Gives me something new to learn...there will be many possibilities.

Ok enough thread jacking.

they work great simply as resonators, in addition to a typical muffler. but not as your muffler. not enough room after your cat.

I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.

true....

resonators are "sub mufflers" which means in addition to a decent muffler.

posts like this, i REALLY have to wonder what you did....

waste of time? ok personal preference... understood.

money? not if you shop around.

power? you dont loose power IF you buy quality and correct parts.

torque? see the answer for power.

patience? it takes less than an hour to install, if you dont have an hour of patience, then you prob got the wrong parts, prob installed those wrong, which yea, then it would be a waste of time.
